Meet Our Team

Dr. Alexandra Bodden, Psy.D., M.A., M.S. ClinPharm

Dr. Alexandra Bodden is licensed as a Psychologist in the Cayman Islands and Maryland, USA.  Dr. Bodden holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and additional master’s degrees in General Psychology and Clinical Psychopharmacology. For the past seven years she has worked in community mental health clinics and hospitals in Florida and Cayman, specializing in working with adult survivors of childhood abuse, persons with substance use difficulties and persons with severe and persistent mental illness. Dr. Bodden works at OnCourse Cayman where she provides individual and group therapy, conducts psychological assessments for adults, adolescents and children and facilitates corporate workshops for skill and team-building purposes. She is also an adjunct lecturer in psychology at the University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI).  She has presented workshops and papers in local and international conferences on topics such as domestic violence, homelessness, substance use and child abuse.  Dr. Bodden is also actively involved in the community facilitating a monthly radio show on topics related to mental health and providing informational sessions to local organizations on topics such as mindfulness, healthy relationships and stress management.

Dr. Liezel Anguelova, Ph.D

Dr. Liezel Anguelova has been licensed as a Psychologist in South Africa for the past 21 years and is now registered with the Council for Professions Allied with Medicine (CPAM) in the Cayman Islands.  She holds a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology and a Doctoral degree in Psychology. Dr. Anguelova’s main practice was in a hospital setting where she attended to clients in mainly the mental health ward, but also the medical ward, maternity ward, pediatric ward, ICU and casualties (ER). She has worked in a variety of settings in South Africa, including community settings, children’s villages, and school settings.  Dr. Anguelova started an Intern Psychologist Training and Supervision Programme and is still involved in supervision and training. She also does Forensic/Psycho-Legal work, mainly in the field of sexual abuse cases and divorce cases.

Dr. Anguelova’s therapeutic approach is based on an integrative model founded on systems theory giving priority to the bio-psycho-social model. Person-centred and goal directed outcomes play an important role in her approach to therapy.  She uses a selection of therapeutic methods such as interactional pattern analysis, gestalt, logo-therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behaviour therapy (TF CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), trauma incident reduction (TIR) and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP).  Due to the nature of her Doctoral Thesis topic and the high crime levels in South Africa, she has worked extensively with traumatized clients.

Dr. Anguelova is a published author, and has presented workshops and papers in local and international conferences on child sexual abuse and working with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

Heather Mitchell, SLP

Heather Mitchell is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist from Ontario, Canada.  Heather earned her Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology in Michigan after completing her Bachelor of Arts – Psychology in Ontario, Canada.  In addition, Heather has a certificate in Social Services.  Heather has had the opportunity to work in Canada, Chicago, Florida, Fiji and Grand Cayman in various settings and environments such as early intervention programs, private and public schools, childcares, community clinics and outreach programs, hospitals, and developmental and mental health facilities.  She has extensive experience working with clients and families with communication and behavioral needs.

Heather has worked with clients with communication needs such as expressive & receptive language delays, Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), autism, articulation & phonological delays and disorders, learning disabilities, genetic & neurological conditions, executive function difficulties, social-pragmatic difficulties, and various other communication and literacy needs.  Heather has had the opportunity to provide workshops for teachers and parents and assisted with program development as well as student and staff training.

Heather believes strongly in collaborating with the client, the client’s family, caregivers, educators and other professionals to develop and facilitate intervention and progress and is passionate about promoting positive outcomes for clients and families.

Ms. Angela Francis

Ms. Angela Francis brings 12 years of work as an Administrator for a local law firm to the OnCourse Cayman team.  She is a certified Medical Office Manager and is responsible for management of clients, such as scheduling, billing and referrals, as well as management of the medical records and office in general. She grew up in Jamaica where she attended high school and completed the Jamaica Child Evangelism Fellowship, gaining coaching experience. Ms. Francis has received ample training in business courses. She has earned Diplomas for Practical Theology and as a Professional Secretary. She received a Certificate for Prevention of Money Laundering in the Cayman Islands, and has completed training in computer programming and, through IMPT, has been certified as a Professional Receptionist.

She is a people-lover, and is most happy when with her family or Church community. Ms. Francis is a kind and calm spirit who always makes clients feel welcome in our office!
