Welcome to our New Therapists – Mr. Jason Jones and Dr. Liezel Anguelova!

Mr. Jason Jones MEd, LCT, CCC is a Licensed Counselling Therapist in New Brunswick, Canada, and a Certified Canadian Counselor in Canada.  He is registered as a Counsellor with the Council for Professions Allied with Medicine in the Cayman Islands. Jason has 13 years of experience working with at-risk youth and young adults and he specializes in building trusting relationships through a person-centered approach whereby even the most resistant youths open up to counseling.

Jason works from an integrative approach incorporating cognitive and experiential frameworks to deliver the most appropriate interventions and techniques for each client.  He is well-versed in a number of approaches providing individual and group therapy to young children, adolescents, adults, and families struggling with social problems, anxiety, depression, addiction, eating disorders, gender identity, trauma, grief, and issues related to self-esteem and/or family dynamics. Jason is an incredibly caring individual that attends to his clients fully with an open, non-judging, accepting attitude. He represents to many a positive adult, male role-model and he accepts this role and responsibility very graciously.

Dr. Liezel Anguelova is licensed as a Psychologist in South Africa for the past 21 years and is registered as a Psychologist-Doctoral Level with CPAM in Cayman.  Dr. Anguelova’s main practice was in a Hospital setting where she attended to clients in mainly the mental health ward but also the medical ward, maternity ward, paediatric ward, ICU and casualties (ER). She has worked in a variety of settings in South Africa, including community settings, children’s villages, and school settings.  She also does Forensic/Psycho-Legal work, mainly in the field of sexual abuse cases and divorce cases.

Dr. Anguelova’s therapeutic approach is based on an integrative model founded on systems theory giving priority to the bio-psycho-social model. Person-centred and goal-directed outcomes play an important role in her approach to therapy.  She uses a selection of therapeutic methods such as interactional pattern analysis, gestalt, logo-therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behaviour therapy (TF-CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), traumatic incident reduction (TIR) and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP).  Due to the nature of her Doctoral Thesis topic and the high crime levels in South Africa, she has extensively worked with traumatized clients.
